Dr. Kristine C. Keane is an expert in Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury. She is a Clinical Neuropsychologist who has been in practice in New Jersey for the past fifteen years specializing in the neuropsychological evaluation and treatment of concussion, traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, learning disabilities, and neurological disorders.

Dr. Keane has been the Clinical Director of Shore Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health since 2006, a leading provider of comprehensive health care services for children, adults and families with a range of mental health and neurological symptoms and disorders. She has extensive training in neuropsychological assessment, therapeutic feedback/remediation of traumatic brain injury patients and patients with various neuro-developmental and neuro-cognitive difficulties.

Dr. Keane is also the Clinical Director of the Meridian Health Concussion Program including Southern Ocean, Ocean Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center. As Clinical Director, Dr. Keane coordinates regional care for children and adults who sustain concussion and mild traumatic brain injury through sports, falls and accidents. Dr. Keane coordinates with athletic trainers, coaches, guidance counselors, school nurses and school administration to create and provide up to date concussion management and return to play/learn decisions for individual school districts and recreational teams. Since 2013, she has proudly served as the official Neuropsychologist for the Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Dr. Keane has participated in published research studies that investigated Head Injury and Sports Concussion, as well as utilization of the MMPI-2 for Prediction of Treatment Outcomes. She has given lectures and workshops on multiple topics such as Youth Sports Concussion, Concussion in the Classroom, Heads Up on Concussion, Pediatric Concussion and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, Brain Injured Students in the Classroom, Mild Cognitive Impairment vs. Normal Forgetting, Caregiver Wellness for Alzheimer’s Disease, Clinical Use of MMPI-2 Content and Supplementary Scales and the Cognitive Remediation of Memory Deficits. Dr. Keane is an active member of the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey (BIANJ) and serves on the NJ Youth Sports Concussion Committee for the past three years. She also serves on the BIANJ Speakers Bureau and provides lectures and workshops to New Jersey elementary, middle and high school students, teachers, guidance counselors, speech therapists, and school nurses.

Dr. Keane is a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, American Psychological Association, and the New Jersey Psychological Association. She is an active supporter of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, Women in Leadership network and has interests in clinical supervision and the provision of specialized treatment services for women within her practice.

Dr. Keane has staff privileges as a consulting Neuropsychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Ocean Medical Center. She also serves as a consulting Neuropsychologist at Shore Rehabilitation Institute (SRI) and Laurel Rehabilitation Center in Brick.

Dr. Keane completed her doctoral studies at the University of Rochester Medical Center, University of Medicine and Dentistry, an APA approved internship site. She provided a full range of clinical psychology services at Strong Memorial Hospital’s residency program within the Department of Psychiatry. She completed two specialized programs in Neuropsychology and Forensic Psychology within Rochester Psychiatric Center for patients diagnosed with neurocognitive deficits subsequent to chronic mental illness. Her forensic training focused on the assessment of competency, evaluation of malingering, mental status examination and prediction of violence and risk.

Dr. Keane earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology from Florida Institute of Technology. During her predoctoral study, she completed a one-year specialty externship in a neurology practice working with patients diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebrovascular Disease, Movement Disorders, Seizures, Developmental Disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease, and other Dementing illnesses. She completed a second full year externship at the East Central Memory Disorder Clinic of the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative within the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs working with patients diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment, Alzheimer’s Dementia, and Cardiovascular disease as well as with their families. Dr. Keane completed an additional rotation at a Veteran’s Administration sponsored program for veterans within the Center for Combat Trauma Studies where she provided psychological and neuropsychological services to veterans with a focus on treatment of Post Traumatic Stress, Chronic Pain and Traumatic Brain Injury. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Keane was honored with the Outstanding Doctoral Student in Clinical Psychology award. She was also awarded the Clinical Directorship of Community Psychology Services, a clinical training rotation for second year doctoral students.
